Miles, and miles, and miles of smooth sand for your dog (and you?) to run on and if it is a bit blowy, you can wander through the Towans just behind the beach and discover all the WWII ruins.

This sheltered beach on the upper reaches of the Fal estuary is often a calmer place for a winter walk when the weather is a little wild, tucked as it is in the millionaires bolthole of Mylor Yacht Harbour. It also boasts a fabulous and very friendly beach cafe Cafe Mylor which even has a special social dog walking session on Wednesdays with coffee, a breakfast bap, scenic walk and dog treats for £5.50

It is a pebbly beach, rather than a sandy beach, but there a many reasons to go to Charlestown for a winter stroll . Poldark was filmed here (both the first and the new series), there are tall ships often docked here, intriguing tunnels and history all around the picturesque port, along with galleries, cafes and the Shipwreck and Heritage Centre.
