Description

There was a settlement here in the Domesday book but the current building, a listed Cornish thatched longhouse dates from the 18Th century. The higgledy piggledy walls and beamed ceilings just ooze character and charm and its hidden nooks and crannies make it perfect for family games of hide and seek.

We have taken great care to equip the house with the needs of modern living and bold contemporary soft furnishings to make it stylish and appealing whilst retaining its historical features.

The kitchen is the heart of the house, the hub where everything happens. Great days out start here, over a hearty fry up for breakfast.

Country Living lovers will adore its massive antique French dresser, bright Provencale style tiles, retro style fridge freezer, bespoke kitchen with granite worktop and slate floor. Imagine sitting around the huge refectory table, with supper bubbling on the Aga, and an open bottle of wine….(don’t worry, the Aga comes with instructions and there’s also an electric oven and gas hob!)

After supper at the hewn antique oak dining table with room for everyone, you can relax, chat or play games or watch the large flat screen TV in the 38ft long living room, with solid oak floor, whilst you sink into squashy leather sofas. This room is heated by underfloor heating and a wood burner set in a huge inglenook fireplace with a massive granite lintel lit with twinkling bauble lights.

Just off the living room, there’s a smaller sitting room with another TV, often used by families as a games or play room. Glass doors lead out to the garden and patio – perfect for anyone seeking a bit of peace and quiet after a hectic day, or on their way to the hot tub……

There are two bedrooms at the back of the house on the ground floor, a single and a double with Victorian iron bedstead and its own en suite toilet, washbasin and shower.

Upstairs, off the half landing is a bathroom (including a shower over the bath). You’ll find four bedrooms on the first floor, three doubles, and a triple. The master bedroom has a 5ft bed and an en-suite shower room. There’s also another bathroom with a shower for the other two doubles to share.

The Farmhouse is a brilliant space for group holidays – bringing friends and family together for whatever reason, special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, parties, Christmas and New Year. Taking the Farmhouse and one or several of the other cottages means that families can get together whilst still having their own breathing space!

Best for: A family gathering or celebration. The Farmhouse also makes the ideal base for a holiday with a group of friends.

NB: Although it is spacious, the Farmhouse can also suit smaller groups – if 6 or less people will be staying and not using all the bedrooms (and no smaller cottage available), then a low occupancy discount of 30% can apply – please call us to discuss on 01726 72128.

The Farmhouse now has its own hot tub in the garden, making it even more special for a relaxing getaway!
