Dog friendly beach cafes in Cornwall

Summer’s here, so here are a few ideas for some really lovely dog friendly beach cafes. Sit and enjoy a coffee after a lovely walk nearby

National Trust car park, Godrevy

Lovely menu (think French toast with maple syrup for breakfast, or a Greek wrap with feta and olives for an afternoon snack). This cafe is dog friendly and child friendly. You can walk your dog through the Towans here, the dunes behind the beach, and Mexico Towans to the north of this stretch allows dogs all year round.

The Cove Cafe at Hayle Towans is another dog friendly beach cafe, and added here after Adele contacted us to point out that they are especially dog friendly. The team have recently renovated the cafe for summer 2015 and it will be open from the end of June. It is well placed for a stop off along the coast path, but also not far from Mexico Towans, the part of the beach that is dog friendly. Give it a try and let us know what you think. Twitter @TheCove_Cafe. You can find the Cove Cafe at Phillack, near the Riviere Holiday Park, five minutes from the centre of Hayle. Click here for a google map and directions.

Situated on the cliffs above Great Western beach, which is dog friendly all year, this cafe serves food which is freshly cooked to order. Food includes traditional with a twist, such as their fish finger sandwiches with chunky bread and delicious stacks of American style pancakes with a variety of toppings in the afternoons.

Overlooking the harbour in Mylor is this lovely cafe, which serves a range of delicious cakes, Tregothnan tea, from nearby on the Fal estuary, and soup and sandwiches. The beach nearby is a haven for dog walkers, in fact the cafe has a Wednesday morning social dog walking meet up, so people can walk with others, and dogs get water and dog biscuits.

002The Blue Bar, Porthtowan

A very dog friendly shabby-chic beach bar which is renowned locally for excellent food. It offers a range from stone-baked pizzas, seasonal salads to its famed hot chocolates. The beach is right next door. Although Porthtowan has a dog ban in the summer, there are lovely walks along the coast here.

bh-3The Beach Hut, Watergate Bay

Watergate Bay is a fabulous beach that welcomes dogs all year round and the food at the Beach Hut is excellent. The menu is focused around steaks, burgers and shellfish with an emphasis on local, seasonal produce.

Another much-loved spot, loved by dog walkers and an establishment which was badly damaged by the 2014 storms. Recent reviews show the family are just as dedicated as ever to producing amazing food, ranging from hearty stews, to seafood and good old fish and chips.
